The new group of citizens is looking for volunteers for projects

The Eatonville Community Service Alliance is a citizen-focused association that strives to raise awareness of service opportunities within the boundaries of the Eatonville School District.

The goal of the Eatonville Community Service Alliance is to bring the community together through service.

The first project announced by the alliance in June was the removal of invasive plant species along the Mashell River. The Nisqually Land Trust spearheaded the project. The service project took place near the old Mill Pond barn in the town of Eatonville.

The next service opportunity is July 9 at the Mountain Community Garden, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In August, the service alliance encourages the community to support the annual Eatonville Lion Arts Festival. Instead of the normal Second Saturday draft, people can sign up at JustServe.org. volunteer at the Art Festival the first Saturday in August. All organizations wishing to use JustServe.org to solicit volunteers can obtain more information by visiting the JustServe website, www.JustServe.org.

To find service opportunities in our community, simply enter your zip code and click the search button. Look for 9/11 Service Day opportunities beginning in August.

If you are interested in being part of the Eatonville Community Service Alliance core group or if there is a service project you would like to see the group consider, please contact Sara Wendell at [email protected]
