The group wants to support local residents with autism
COLORADO SPRINGS — A local organization seeks to support autistic Coloradans and their families while educating the community.
Autism Vision of Colorado provides support through events, groups, and awareness campaigns. Each activity is designed with the needs of the participants in mind and aims to provide comfort and understanding so that everyone can enjoy it.
Founded in 2018, Autism Vision of Colorado is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Their mission is to create a safe place where people on the spectrum and their families can meet, support each other and advocate for themselves within the community, as well as coordinate resources to empower people with autism.
Their next event is a Sensory Easter Egg Hunt for all ages, scheduled for Saturday, April 9. They are asking anyone wishing to attend to RSVP on their Facebook page.
Organizers say to bring an Easter basket and expect Covid-19 precautions to be in place. No more than ten families will be allowed in a space every half hour, to keep noise and commotion to a minimum for people with sensory processing disorders.
