Paradigm shift needed in innovation strategy: Mashelkar

RA Mashelkar, Chairman of the New Energy Council of Reliance Industries, called for a paradigm shift in innovation strategy.

Addressing the International Knowledge Millennium Conference (IKMC2022) here, he said it was important to have a paradigm shift to accelerate the journey towards future preparedness.

“Leap frogging is not enough. We have to pole vault,” said Masheklkar, former director general of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, President and CEO of IKP, recounted the journey of the 22-year-old organization.

“Established in 1999, the 200-acre science park has grown into a pan-India innovation ecosystem,” she said.

“We believe that innovators need to be much more nimble in order to respond to rapidly changing technologies and global disruptions caused by climate change,” she said.

The 16th edition of the conference focuses on “Sculpting the NEXT: Enabling a Future-ready India”. The two-day event deliberates on how ecosystem enablers are helping innovators and industries solve some critical global issues.

Uday Desai, Founding Director and Professor Emeritus of IIT Hyderabad, cross-validation of the data was needed. “It is not exploited. We should use blockchain technology to ensure data security,” he said.

In favor of establishing a “Data Exchange” modeled on stock exchanges, he said monetization of data has good potential.

About 80 startups presented their products and services at the Startup Product Exhibition.
