Destination Toronto appoints new Vice President of Global Marketing

After 22 years with the Toronto tourism organization, Paula Port takes charge of its marketing and communications.

Destination Toronto searched internally for its new marketing leader, appointing Paula Port its vice president of global marketing.

Selected following a formal search process, Port was tasked with leading the strategic development and implementation of marketing and communications for the Toronto tourism organization. She will also support Destination Toronto’s DEI activities, strengthen employee engagement and develop its CSR strategy.

Former Destination Toronto marketing director Jon Mamela left the organization in March to become commercial director of Travel Alberta. Mamela first joined in 2019, after five years as the head of marketing for Destination Canada.

Port has worked for Destination Toronto for over 20 years, first as Marketing Coordinator in 1999. She became Director of Branded Content in 2016 and has since been recognized for making content marketing a core function of the business. ‘organization.
