Print & Logo Design | Ten Ton Hammer

This menacing image may have fascist overtones, but it also functions as a Rorshach test.

Ron often works with his close friends, and an old Adirondack neighbor of his played in the metal band Ten Ton Hammer. “They were awesome,” recalls Bercume. “It was on the level of Tool or Slipknot. It wasn’t like a typical bar band that you may have expected in a small town.”

According to TTH, there is only one relevant genre: pure metal. The band is incluenced by acts like Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, Fear Factory, Slipknot, Soilwork, Ill Nino, Lamb of God, and All That Remains.

This logo is audience-centric and subjective – viewers’ responses to it vary depending on their perspectives and on how close they look.

Ron is particularly proud of the way it plays on typographic elements which come together for what could be interpreted as a acronym, among other things.

Bercume was inspired to design print material and a logo for Ten Ton. The design utilizes a organic approach that is rustic and old-school. The typeface and colors of the design resemble the motifs which define heavy metal. His design has a textured, organic, and hand-drawn feel.

“Tell me that doesn’t look like a hardcore band logo,” remarks Bercume. “It’s scary.” Bercume believes that this subtle, vaguely-menacing image may have fascist overtones, but it also functions as a Rorshach test.
