Poster Design | Gregg Allman & Friends

Gregg Allman and Friends Poster

Gregg Allman is a founding member of one of the biggest and most important American bands to come to prominence in the ’70s: the Allman Brothers Band.

Ron produced event posters, newspaper ads and radio commercials for the Greg Allman & Friends Hawaii tour, which took place across the Hawaiian Islands in 2007.

Gregg Allman formed the Allman Brothers in Florida in 1969 with his brother, Duane (now ranked the No. 2 greatest rock guitarist by Rolling Stone) and another now-legendary guitarist, Dicky Betts (now ranked No. 61 by Rolling Stone). On their way to creating Southern rock and releasing 16 gold or platinum records, the Allmans also reinvented what twin guitarists could do in a rock band, ignoring the well-worn lead/rhythm template. Gregg Allman was the voice behind these epic jams.

Gregg Allman was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

He is widely considered one of rock’s great vocalists (not least by the Rolling Stone, which ranks him the No. 70 greatest singer of all time).

Ron listened to more than his fair share of classic rock during his tie-died summer of love in Lake Placid (when he was in high school, in other words), and his habits included liberal doses of the Allmans. He saw the band live when he was in college and was thrilled when he was asked to do promotional artwork for the rock and blues band Gregg Allman and Friends.

Ron’s direct, clear design features Allman relaxed and laid-back against a brick wall. The poster coveys the legendary singer’s down-to-earth and peaceful, yet rugged, persona.

“This is some of my prized work, and that goes for a lot the design work I have provided for artists within the music industry,” said Bercume.

“That project in particular is pretty close to me. I’m proud of it. That’s why I was interested in graphic design in the first place: my love for music.”
