Another poster design provided for a Grammy Award winner and nominee, the simple black and white Johnny Winter poster was created for the Winter Harvest Concert Series held in Saranac Lake, NY. The show received positive feedback from all attendees and the Texas blues legend made a lasting impression on the community.
Winters performed at the Harrietstown Town Hall in Saranac Lake and did not leave fans disappointed.
The design focuses on the Texas blues legend with a large black and white photograph of him playing the guitar, provided by and requested to be used for the design by the event management. The color palette sticks to the black and white theme from the photography, with all text and elements in black. Both a serif and sans serif typeface are used, with the serif type treatment used for the larger and more important information and the sans serif type coming in as a clean complement with the secondary information.
Additionally, two of Winters own albums received Grammy nominations. Awards aside, Winters played a nine song set with Edgar Winter at the Woodstock Music Festival. In 1988 he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and was published on the cover of the first issue of Guitar World in 1980. Additionally, the Smashing Pumpkins paid tribute to Winters in their hit “Zero.”
